Live and frozen rodents
Frozen mice and rats from pinky up to adult, and live rodents at the counter. Feed a rodent no bigger around than your snake at its widest point, and move up a size as the animal grows.
Most snakes can be switched to frozen/thawed. Never leave a live rodent unattended with any snake.
Gut-load before you feed
Give feeder insects fruits and vegetables dusted with calcium, or a commercial gut-load diet, for 24 to 48 hours before they go in the tank. Your animal is only as well fed as what it eats.
